Bitung, VivaSulut.com – Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) Kota Bitung menyatakan ada peningkatan signifikan volumen sampah usai malam pergantian tahun, Rabu (1/1/2025).
Volumen sampah, kata Kepala DLH Kota Bitung, Merianti Dumbela mengalami peningkatan dua kali lipat usai perayaan malam pergantian tahun.
“Dari pantauan di sejumlah wilayah, volume sampah dua kali lipat dibandingkan hari-hari biasa,” kata Merianti.
Peningkatan itu, kata Merianti, sesuai hasil pantauan volume ampah di wilayah Pusat Kota, Girian, Asabri, Perempatan Ponokalan dan Aertembaga.
“Di wilayah itu ada peningkatan signifikan. Biasanya hanya satu Kontainer, hari ini dua sampai tiga kontainer,” katanya.
Pun demikian, kata dia, peningkatan volumen sampah tidak hanya terjadi di malam pergantian tahun. Namun, jelang perayaan Natal, volume sampah mulai mengalami peningkatan.
Penyebabnya, jelang perayaan Natal pada umumnya warga melakukan pembersihan rumah sehingga sampah seperti perabotan rumah tangga rusak mendominasi lokasi Tempat Pembuangan Sementara (TPS).
“Itu semua sudah kita antisipasi, karena setiap akhir tahun memang ada lonjakan volume sampah,” katanya.
Selain itu, Merianti juga menyatakan volume sampah yang masuk ke TPA Aertembaga setiap harinya sebanyak 120 kubik. Dirinya berharap, volume itu bisa ditekan agar tidak menjadi beban TPA.
“Kami berharap kedepannya masyarakat bisa secara mandiri mengelola sampah sendiri agar beban TPA bisa berkurang,” katanya.
