“Karena itu, saya merasa perlu menanamkan kesadaran lingkungan sejak dini, terutama bagi anak-anak pemulung yang sering berada di area Tempat Pembuangan Akhir (TPA),” ujar Tacoh.
Lanjut dia, program ini tidak hanya mengajarkan bahasa Inggris, tetapi juga memadukan edukasi lingkungan. Anak-anak akan diajarkan cara mengurangi sampah dan menjaga kebersihan lingkungan mulai dari lingkup kecil seperti keluarga dan teman-teman terdekat.
“Saya ingin anak-anak ini memiliki aktivitas yang bermanfaat, sehingga mereka bisa mendapatkan suasana yang lebih menyegarkan di luar lingkungan TPA. Melalui kursus ini, mereka akan belajar bahasa Inggris dengan tema lingkungan, sekaligus diberikan edukasi tentang menjaga kebersihan,” tambah Ketua TP-PKK Sangihe.
Sementara itu, Pengelola LKP Sangihe Learning Center Celline Sandil menyampaikan, bahwa program kursus ini ditujukan untuk anak-anak SD dari kelas 1 hingga kelas 6. Pihaknya saat ini sedang melakukan pendataan terkait nama, usia, dan tingkat pendidikan para peserta. Kursus tersebut akan dilaksanakan di Papanuhung Santiago Tampungang Lawo, sebuah lokasi yang dipilih untuk memberikan suasana belajar yang lebih nyaman bagi anak-anak pemulung.
“Awalnya, kelas direncanakan berlangsung di TPA, namun berdasarkan masukan dari Ibu Pj Bupati, kami memutuskan untuk memindahkannya ke lokasi yang lebih nyaman di luar TPA. Anak-anak ini nantinya akan difasilitasi dengan transportasi, sehingga mereka tidak perlu mengeluarkan biaya sendiri untuk mengikuti kelas,” jelas Celline.
Selama tiga bulan kata Celline, anak-anak pemulung akan belajar bahasa Inggris menggunakan metode tematik. Selain materi bahasa, mereka juga akan mendapat edukasi tentang pemilahan sampah, cara menghasilkan uang dari sampah, serta membuat produk daur ulang. Program ini diharapkan dapat membentuk jiwa wirausaha pada anak-anak pemulung, sehingga mereka bisa menjadi lebih mandiri dan mampu melihat peluang ekonomi dari pengelolaan sampah.
“Dengan adanya program ini, kami berharap anak-anak di TPA tidak hanya memperoleh pengetahuan bahasa Inggris, tetapi juga keterampilan mengelola sampah dengan bijak.
