Ubah Lahan Kritis, PLN Kembangkan Ekosistem Biomassa Berbasis Pertanian Terpadu

Manado, VivaSulut.com — Upaya pengembangan ekosistem biomassa berbasis pertanian terpadu yang diinisiasi oleh PT PLN (Persero) melalui sub holding PT PLN Energi Primer Indonesia bakal mengubah lahan yang sebelumnya kritis menjadi lebih hijau dan produktif. Upaya ini akan memanfaatkan 1,7 juta hektare dari 14 juta hektare lahan kritis yang tersebar di seluruh tanah air.

Wakil Menteri Pertanian Republik Indonesia, Sudaryono mengapresiasi langkah PLN dalam mendorong program biomassa dengan memanfaatkan lahan kritis yang berkolaborasi dengan Kementerian Pertanian, Pemerintah Daerah, dan kelompok masyarakat.

“Saya mengapresiasi langkah PLN dengan program ini. Kita dihadapkan pada tantangan perubahan iklim. Saya sangat menghargai karena dengan diwajibkan (program ini) maka sumber biomassa akan berasal dari tanah marjinal,” terang Sudaryono dalam sambutannya pada agenda Peresmian Pengembangan Ekosistem Biomassa Berbasis Ekonomi Kerakyatan dan Pertanian Terpadu di Tasikmalaya pada Kamis (26/9) 2024.

Dirinya menambahkan, tanah marjinal umumnya merupakan tanah yang sulit ditanami tanaman dan berlokasi di pelosok-pelosok Tanah Air. Program biomassa PLN pun menjadi salah satu bukti nyata kehadiran pemerintah hingga daerah pelosok.

“Saya ingin betul-betul kalau model ini berhasil maka ini tinggal kita tularkan ke tempat lainnya,” tambah Sudaryono.

Senada dengan hal tersebut, Direktur Utama PLN, Darmawan Prasodjo menjelaskan bahwa pihaknya memanfaatkan lahan kritis yang berkolaborasi dengan Kementerian Pertanian, Pemerintah Daerah, dan Kelompok Masyarakat.

“Melalui program kolaboratif ini, kami berupaya mengubah lahan yang sebelumnya kering dan tidak produktif menjadi lebih hijau dan produktif,” jelas Darmawan.

Menurut data dari Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan, terdapat 14 juta hektare lahan kritis di seluruh Tanah Air. Dengan mengembangkan ekosistem biomassa berbasis pertanian terpadu, program ini dapat turut berkontribusi dalam upaya pemanfaatan lahan kritis.

“Kami akan memanfaatkan lahan kritis dengan luas total 1,7 juta hektare yang tersebar di seluruh tanah air sehingga mampu berkontribusi dalam upaya penurunan emisi sebesar 11 juta ton CO2e melalui co-firing biomassa,” terang Darmawan.

Lebih dari itu, program ini bahkan juga mampu meningkatkan kapasitas nasional dengan menghadirkan lapangan pekerjaan, meningkatkan pendapatan daerah, menggerakkan ekonomi kerakyatan sirkuler dan mengentaskan kemiskinan.

“Ke depan, kami menargetkan program ini akan melibatkan 1,25 juta masyarakat dan bernilai ekonomi sebesar Rp9,5 triliun per tahun,” pungkas Darmawan.
