PWI Bitung Utus Enam Orang Anggotanya Ikut UKW

Manado, VivaSulut.com – Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) Kota Bitung mengutus enam orang anggotanya mengikuti Uji Kompetensi Wartawan (UKW).

UKW itu diselenggaran PWI Provinsi Sulawesi Utara (Sulut) yang merupakan UKW angkatan ke-34 berlangsung selama dua hari sejak 20-21 September 2024.

Kegiatan ini berlangsung di Grand Ballroom Hotel Luwansa Kota Manado dan diikuti 36 anggota PWI yang datang dari 15 Kabupaten/Kota se Sulut, termasuk Kota Bitung.

Ketua Dewan Pers, Dr Ninik Rahayu yang hadir membuka kegiatan itu, menyampaikan UKW merupakan kegiatan sertifikasi profesi yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas dan profesionalitas wartawan.

UKW, kata Ninik, memiliki tiga tingkatan, yaitu level muda, madya, dan utama. Dewan Pers mewajibkan setiap wartawan untuk mengikuti UKW, memiliki sertifikat UKW dan kartu pengenal UKW.

“Bisa dimaklumi, masih banyak yang belum faham tentang urgensi Sertifikasi Kompetensi Wartawan (SKW) dalam realita media dan kewartawanan saat ini,” kata Ninik.

Ninik juga menjelaskan, dengan mengikuti UKW di level muda, madya, utama, juga sudah memahami pesoalan etik dan hukum terkait pers agar dapat lolos ujian.

Mulai dari yang bersifat elementer seperti sikap profesional terhadap narasumber, tidak mengintimidasi, sikap berimbang, konfirmasi, sampai dengan sikap independen dan berpihak pada kepentingan publik di tahapan yang lebih rumit.

Bahkan, katanya, rambu-rambu tentang tidak menerima suap, tidak menerima imbalan terkait berita, tidak plagiat, langsung dikaitkan dengan pencabutan kartu kompetensi, apabila itu dilakukan mereka yang lulus uji kompetensi.

“Hal seperti itu sungguh penting bagi wartawan dari media-media kecil baik di kota maupun di daerah tingkat dua, yang hampir tidak pernah disentuh pelatihan, sebab proses uji kompetensi sekaligus dijadikan juga sebagai proses berbagi pengetahuan dan pengalaman dari pengujinya. Apa yang boleh dan tidak boleh, ditularkan,” katanya.

Pembukaan UKW itu juga dihadiri Ketua PWI Sulut, Voucke Lontaan, Sekprov Sulut, Steve Kepel serta enam penguji yakni, Uyun Achadiat pada kelas Utama, Mohammad Nasir di kelas Madya dan 4 penguji untuk kelas Muda yakni Djunaedi Tjunti Agus, Haryo Ristamaji, Suprapto dan Merson Simbolon.

Ketua PWI Kota Bitung, Taizar Basalamah yang ikut hadir mendampingi enam anggotanya menyampaikan apresiasi kepada PWI Sulut.

Menurutnya, dari tujuah anggota PWI Kota Bitung yang lolos seleksi berkas UKW, hanya enam orang yang bisa ikut mengingat satu orang masih dalam pemulihan kesehatan.

“UKW adalah salah satu program PWI Kota Bitung dengan tujuan menciptakan wartawan berkualitas seperti yang disampaikan Ketua Dewan Pers,” kata Taizar.

Dirinya berharap, seluruh anggota PWI Kota Bitung bisa memiliki sertifikat kopetensi agar informasi yang disampaikan ke masyarakat lebih profesional dan tidak menyesatkan.

“Kartu kompetensi adalah ukuran yang sesuai aturan dan bertujuan ganda karena selain melindungi masyarakat sekaligus menunjukkan jatidiri wartawan sesungguhnya,” jelasnya.

“Masyarakat jadi tahu mana wartawan baik yang bertujuan memberitakan, sehingga patut diterima dan diberi informasi, dan mana wartawan yang hanya memeras dan mengintimidasi sehingga patut dilaporkan ke polisi,” sambungnya.
