Atlet FAJI Bitung Perkuat Tim Arung Jeram Putri Sulut di PON 2024

Bitung, VivaSulut.com – Ketua Pengcab Federasi Arung Jeram Indonesia (FAJI) Kota Bitung, Geraldi Mantiri mengaku bangga salah satu atlet putri FAJI Kota Bitung masuk tim arung jeram putri Sulawesi Utara (Sulut).

Rasa bangga itu disampaikan Geraldi saat melepas Anggita Suaiba yang akan bergabung dengan tim arung jeram putri Sulut untuk berlaga di Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) XXI/2024, Rabu (28/8/2024).

Menurutnya, FAJI Kota Bitung baru beberapa tahun terbentuk, namun sudah menghasilkan atlet-atlet handar yang telah mengharumkan nama Kota Bitung di sejumlah iven.

Bahkan, kata dia, atlet arung jeram binaan FAJI Kota Bitung kini diperhitungkan setiap mengikuti iven karena selalu menjadi lawan kuat bagi tim lainnya.

“Ini bukti bahwa anak-anak muda kita mampu bersaing dan punya talenta jika diberi ruang serat dibimbing seperti FAJI Kota Bitung,” kata Geraldi.

Didampingi Ketua Harian FAJI Kota Bitung, Ferdy Pangalila, calon Wali Kota Bitung ini pun mengingatkan Anggita agar menjaga kesehatan dan mental agar bisa maksimal berlaga di PON nanti. Menurutnya, kesehatan dan mental adalah kunci dalam mengikuti iven seperti saat Porprov di Bolmong beberapa waktu lalu.

“Kebetulan saya ikut mendampingi atlit FAJI berlaga di Porprov Bolmong dan dari hasil evaluasi, kesehatan dan mental ini menjadi penentu untuk bisa tampil maksimal,” katanya.

“Badan sehat tapi jika mental down maka tidak akan tampil maksimal, begitu juga sebaliknya,” sambungnya.

Ia juga berpesan, dengan masuknya Anggita memperkuat tim arung jeram putri Sulut akan menjadi motivasi bagi atlet-atlet FAJI Kota Bitung lainnya untuk terus berlatih.

“Saya berharap, besok ada Anggita lain atau tidak hanya Anggita yang saya lepas untuk berlaga, tapi satu tim putri Kota Bitung,” katanya.

Anggita sendiri mengaku setelah dilepas Ketua Pengcab FAJI Kota Bitung, ia akan masuk karantina sebelum diberangkatkan berlaga di Sungai Alas dan Mamas Kutacane Kabupaten Aceh Tenggara.
