Menurut Kepala Dinas Kominfo Pemkot Bitung, Theodorus Rompas, ide Wali Kota untuk mengatasi puluhan titik blank spot di Kota Bitung teratasi dengan munculnya produk Starlink.
Karena menurutnya, ada 42 titik blank spot di Pulau Lembeh dan 28 titik di daratan Kota Bitung yang kini bisa teratasi berkat Starlink.
“Perangkat Starlink ini langsung kita beli dan sudah mulai terpasang di Kelurahan Pasir Panjang dan Dorbolaang Kecamatan Lembeh Selatan,” kata Theodorus, Rabu (3/7/2024).
Rupanya, lanjut Theodorus, Wali Kota sudah lama mengetahui soal Starlink dan meminta agar segera mencari tahu soal perangkat itu dengan tujuan bisa mengatasi titik-titik blank spot.
“Waktu itu Starlink belum masuk di Indonesia, tapi Pak Wali Kota meminta untuk terus mengikuti hingga produknya resmi dirilis. Beliau sangat optimis Starlink akan dijual di Indonesia, makanya kami langsung beli beberapa unit dan sudah ada yang mulai dipasang,” katanya.
Sementara itu, Kabid Layanan Informasi, Humas dan Persandian Kominfo Pemkot Bitung, Wolter Ferdy Pangalila mengatakan, kemampuan titik jaringan wifi Starlink yang masuk di lokasi blank spot mencapai 30 sampai 40 Mbps.
Pengadaan peralatan ini, kata Wolter, menyasar Kelurahan Nusu di Pulau Lembeh dan Kelurahan Pinangunian di Kecamatan Aertembaga serta beberapa lokasi lainnya.
“Yang sudah terpasang di Kelurahan Pasir Panjang dan dari laporan kepada kami, warga langsung menggunakan jaringan wifi itu untuk menonton sepak bola,” kata Wolter.
Adapun pengakuan salah satu warga lingkungan II RT 003 Kelurahan Pasir Panjang, Andika Taidi, dengan dipasangnya jaringan wifi, mereka kini sudah bisa menikmati internet tanpa harus mencari-cari lokasi agar tersambung dengan internet.
“Saat ini sudah terpasang tujuh titik Wifi gratis dari Wali Kota Bitung. Kami merasa terbantu dan merasa puas kini sudah ada jaringan. Terima kasih buat Pemkot Bitung,” kata Andika.
