Mitra, VivaSulut.com – Wakil Gubernur Sulawesi Utara, Steven Kandouw hadir dalam ibadah syukur HUT ke-90 KGPM Efrata Kalait, Minahasa Tenggara, Minggu (5/5/2024).
Ibadah ini dirangkaikan dengan peresmian dan pentahbisan pastori sekaligus pemberian lonceng gereja dari Gubernur Olly Dondokambey.
Wagub Steven hadir bersama istri dr Kartika Devi Kandouw-Tanos dan anak terkasih, juga pejabat tinggi pratama di lingkungan Pemprov Sulut.
Ibadah syukur ini dipimpin Gembala Fera Lintong.
Wagub Steven dalam sambutannya mengucapkan rasa syukur boleh kembali datang dan hadir bersama segenap jemaat. Dimana terakhir kali dirinya datang pada 7 tahun lalu.
Dia menyampaikan rasa bangga dan salut dengan pembangunan gereja di Sulut yang secara keseluruhan hampir 5000-an gereja.
Begitupun rumah ibadah agama lain yang juga mencapai ribuan di Bumi Nyiur Melambai.
“Intinya ikhtiar warga Sulawesi Utara bereligi luar biasa. Ini harus kita sambut, kita dorong,” tukasnya.
Dampak positifnya yakni Sulawesi Utara jauh relatif lebih aman dibanding provinsi lain di Indonesia, serta jauh dari konflik horizontal dan gesekan sosial.
“Ini harus dijaga betul. Ini jadi kekuatan torang (kita),” kata Wagub.
Meski begitu dia mengingatkan gereja untuk tidak kehilangan kontak dengan realita sosial.
Menurutnya gereja juga harus hadir di tengah masyarakat dan andil dalam berbagai aspek kehidupan termasuk perekonomian.
Wagub Steven Kandouw mengatakan gereja perlu mengingatkan generasi muda untuk mau berkecimpung dalam dunia kerja di sektor pertanian.
Dimana sektor ini terbukti mampu bertahan di berbagai situasi, hal itu terbukti pada saat Covid-19 melanda waktu lalu.
Selain ekonomi, gereja juga harus mengingatkan tentang pendidikan di tengah persaingan yang semakin tinggi.
Dalam bidang kesehatan, Steven Kandouw memberi penekanan tentang stunting.
Ia meminta persoalan stunting juga menjadi perhatian gereja dan masyarakat.
Lebih jauh, wagub mengajak segenap jemaat untuk semakin mempertebal iman dan percaya sebagai warga Kristen.
“Sebagai orang percaya, kita harus hidup kudus,” ujarnya.
Melengkapi sukacita jemaat, Steven Kandouw menyerahkan bantuan dana sebesar Rp25 juta.
“Selamat bersyukur jemaat KGPM Efrata Kalait dalam HUT ke-90,” tandas Kandouw.
